Do you accept insurance?
Dr. Kamal operates as an out-of-network provider and does not bill insurance companies directly. However, if your health plan provides out-of-network coverage, we can issue an itemized receipt called a superbill after your visit. You can submit this documentation to your insurer to seek potential reimbursement according to your plan's specific benefits.
What are the fees for service?
Prices varies depending on the type and duration of car required (such as comprehensive initial psychiatric evaluations versus ongoing management). Fee breakdowns, along with standard medical billing code details (CPT codes), are provided during your initial complementary phone consultation. Full payment is due at the time of each visit via credit card, debit card, or HSA/FSA funds.
What is the cancellation and missed appointment policy?
To maintain quality care and schedule flexibility for all patients, we require at least 24 hours' notice for any appointment cancellations or schedule changes. Visits cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, as well as missed appointments, are billed at the full visit rate. Unforeseen emergencies will be reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis.
Where are appointments held?
Dr. Kamal offers both in-person visits near Columbus Circle and online appointments through a secure, confidential telepsychiatry platform. Please note: Our practice is currently accepting new patients for telehealth visits only
How frequently will we meet?
Care plans are personalized to fit your clinical needs and progress. Early in treatment or during active medication adjustments, appointments often occur weekly or biweekly. Once stability is achieved, routine follow-ups may be scheduled monthly or on a maintenance timeline that works best for you.
What happens during the intitial phone consultation?
The preliminary phone call is a brief, informal conversation to discuss what you are looking for in treatment, answer your initial questions, and determine whether Dr. Kamals' practice structure aligns with your goals and clinical needs.
What should I expect during my first evaluation appointment?
Your first formal session involves a detailed evaluation of your clinical history, current concerns, lifestyle factors, and treatment goals. Together, you and Dr. Kamal will formulate a collaborative care plan, which may include therapy referrals, medical management, or lifestyle recommendations.
How does prescription management work via telehealth?
Prescriptions are sent electronically to your pharmacy of choice following a video appointment. Regular follow-up appointments are required for ongoing prescription refills to ensure safety and monitor progress.
